Since I do not know your state of residence, and therefore do not know your state’s laws regarding motorists operating a vehicle without valid insurance, I cannot say what steps you need to take to have your license reinstated.
In many states, if you cause an accident while driving without insurance, your license will be automatically suspended and will not be reinstated until you obtain insurance and pay for the damage you caused during the accident. You need to contact your state’s Department of Motor Vehicles to find out the specific laws in your state and what steps you need to take to have your license reinstated. To be perfectly honest, I doubt that your state will reinstate your license until you pay for the damage you caused during the accident, unless the people you hit are willing to release you from liability, which I think is unlikely to happen. In all likelihood, your license will remain suspended until you have paid for the damage. If you can borrow the money to repay these debts from a friend or family member, you may be able to have your license reinstated soon. If not, you should contact the people you hit (or their attorneys) to discuss repayment arrangements–the people you hit may agree not to pursue the matter through your county courts if you are able to make payments on the debts. Even if they will not agree to payments you can afford, it is in your best interest to pay whatever you can each month to try to get these obligations repaid as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, I doubt that you will be able to have your license reinstated until you have paid for all of the damage, which could take a good bit of time given your financial situation. Again, you need to contact your state Department of Motor Vehicles to find out if there is any way to have your license reinstated sooner, but in most states, full payment of damages is required prior to reinstatement.
I wish you the best of luck in your efforts to have your driver’s license reinstates. I hope that the information I have provided helps you Find. Learn. Save.
Best,
Bill
