Question: I have looked at my credit report and there are things on there that I owe. I want to pay them off but I want them off my credit report. I understand that this can be done if done in advance of paying them off. Do you help with this?
Answer: Bills.com does not directly assist consumers with removing information from their credit reports. However, Ican provide you some information you may find helpful is performing the task yourself. There is no way to guarantee that accurate information can be removed from your credit report unless the lender agrees to remove the account once it is repaid.
To have delinquent accounts removed from your credit reports, you must call your creditors to negotiate repayment terms. Tell the lenders that you would like to pay these accounts, but that you need them removed from
your credit report once payment is made. The lenders may or may not be willing to agree to this stipulation, but there is a good chance that at least some will agree to remove their listings.
If any of your creditors agree to remove their listings from your credit reports, make sure that you have them reduce the agreement to writing before you make payment. Too often I have heard of debtors being promised the world by collectors, only to have the terms of
repayment totally forgotten once payment is made. I wish you the best of luck in resolving these accounts. If you would like to learn more about credit, credit reports, and credit scoring, I encourage you to visit the Bills.com Credit Resources page, available at http://www.bills.com/credit/
