Credit Score Update Timing

Question: I just had items deleted from all three of my credit report, how long will it take for my credit score to update?

Answer: Each time you or a potential lender requests your credit score, it is calculated based on the current information appearing on your credit report. Therefore, if the three accounts in question have been removed from your credit reports, your credit scores should already be reflectingtheir removal. If you have confirmed that the items in question have been removed from your credit reports, but your credit scores have not increased significantly, it may be because these items were not significantly influencing your credit scores to begin with.

If you find that an account that should have been removed from your

credit reports is still appearing on your reports, you should file a dispute with each of the credit bureaus reporting the account. The Federal Trade Commission offers a guide to disputing items on your credit reports, available at www.ftc.gov
