Bills.com Rating

3.5

BB&T Mortgage is a smaller lender able to offer a more personal touch to the lending experience. In spite of this, they don't have the same draw as larger lenders due to the limited types of loans they have to offer. BB&T Mortgage currently offers fixed rate and adjustable rate mortgages as well as Veteran's Administration mortgage loans.

Pros: Great Personal Experience. Knowledgeable Lending Staff.
Cons: Limited Variety Of Loans Available, Limited Coverage.

BB&T is a predatory lender and no friend of the military. I strongly advise all veterans and military members to tell everyone in their professional and social network NOT TO BANK WITH BB&T. I have a mortgage with them, requested a loan modification and was denied, I attempted a short and they refused to provide a reasonable compromise even when I was willing to sign a promissory note of $50K. This is an unethical organization in my humble opinion and they their institution lacks any compassion for the sacrifices of veterans and military service member. My request for relief was a result of receiving Permanent Change of Station Orders as I am still on active duty. Please tell everyone you can to avoid banking with BB&T.

My husband and I are first time home buyers. We applied at BBT at Wright Blvd Myrtle Beach. We were prequalified for $100,000. We have a retirement income of $2,900/month. We didn't like the $90.000 home we found, we liked one for $110.000. We didn't think we were going to be accepted. Well they did, an even went as high as $114,000. We couldn't believe it. We didn't have the full closing cost and the mortgage lender continue to force us to take the house and loan. It's is banks like this that you never want to go to. Deceivers.

Difficult to say the least to deal with BBT

They have no desire to help once you have obtained a mortgage with them. Simply say NO to any kind of help with an upside down mortgage.

Terrible service - Possible the worst bak in the world.

My account was originally with Colonial Bank. Since BB&T took over the bank, the service has plummeted to rock bottom. (1) I ordered a new bank card, It took 2 months to arrive. (2) I was put on hold for 33 minutes before I hung up the line. (3) The bank began charging my account $4 per month for Easyimage statement fee without telling me. (4) Charges are high. (6) Staff are slow and unhelpful. If I could give this bank minus figures for my review I would. Goodbye BB&T, I'm going to a better bank.

I am unemployed due to accident at work.My husband had an account with bb and t and when I recieved a settlement check I became joint in his account to have access to an account little did I know I was supposedly signing away my rights to use that money as I saw fit. mainly to pay dr bills so I could get my medicines and buy an electric wheelchair so I could maybe find some type of work.without notice bb and t withdrew 1400 dollars on a property loan my husband had prior to marriage they had foreclosed on.

Beware!! Fraudulent fees and no one to hold accountable.

I've tried to get BB&T to drop an unwarranted fee of over $1000.00 from my account for 5 years! Every time I bring my insurance verification to the branch I'm told it will be taken care of... and it never was. Now they say that it's too far in the past to drop. They take every opportunity they can to leach all the money possible through hidden or false fees. - Scott Jordan
