There are some states that allow liens to be placed on homes while others prohibit such liens. Liens are prohibited in states that have homestead exemptions. I cannot say for certain whether that can happen because you have not provided me with enough information, such as the state you live in. To find if your state allows for liens on a property please see State Consumer Protection Laws and Exemptions.
If you would like to learn more about liens, please see what is a lien?.
I hope this information helps you Find. Learn & Save.
Best,
Bill

Your alternative is to consult with an attorney in your state who has debt negotiation or bankruptcy experience.
