Now the issue is there was one credit card in my name. I just found out that not only has that credit card not been paid for 7 months but I am now liable for $8,000 plus which was supposed to be his. When this is brought to him he couldn’t care less, he figures he has taken care of his end of the deal and as far as the rest goes he is no longer liable for those monies. As so the divorce judgment, he is still liable for the debt as far as I understand. So....should I settle with the credit card for $3000 and have a ding on my credit and have to claim the $500 on my taxes...or....start paying the bills slowly and take him to court for the $8000 plus finance charges etc.? I would also welcome any other suggestions you might have.
