Home refinance applications increase again

refinance applications saw another increase according to the most recent survey from the Mortgages Banker's Association (MBA).
Mortgage refinance applications were up by 12.7 percent compared to the previous week. As a whole, refinance applications accounted for more of overall mortgage activity, up to 56.5 percent compared to 53.3 percent the week before.
Overall mortgage activity also saw a climb. Home mortgage applications were up by 7.5 percent on a seasonally-adjustedbasis compared to the previous week. On an unadjusted basis, home mortgage applications are up by 6.8 percent.
Along with mortgage activity, interest rates saw an increase according to the survey. The average rate on a 30-year, fixed mortgage rose to 5.24 percent from 5.15 percent. For 15-year, fixed mortgages, the average rate climbed from 4.52 percent to 4.58 percent.
The average interest rate for a one-year,
adjustable mortgage rose to 6.74 percent, compared to 6.66 percent the week before.
The news about mortgage rates comes after the MBA has reported that delinquencies on
home mortgages have seen an increase during the second quarter. Mortgage delinquencies made up for 9.24 percent of outstanding loans.
