Though it is falling, a large percentage of people still worry about paying off their mortgages and credit card debt.

According to a poll conducted in September by the Associated Press and GfK Roper, 46 percent of respondents said they are "totally worried" about being able to pay off their credit card debt and mortgages. That number represents a 1 percent decrease from when the poll was last taken in Julyof this year.

The decline continues a trend that started as early as February of this year, when 57 percent of respondents said they were worried about mortgage and credit card debt payments. Furthermore, the number of people "totally not worried" about making their payments has increased from 37 percent in February to 47 percent in September.

The poll also shows that when it comes to their bills overall, consumers may be feeling slightly more confident. In February, 65 percent of respondents said they were totally worried about paying their bills, whereas 57 percent felt the
same in September.

A recent report from the Federal Reserve shows that credit card debt may be falling for a number of consumers. Revolving consumer credit, much of which is accounted for by credit cards, dropped by an annually-adjusted rate of 8 percent.
