I had just closed an escrow for a home purchase. At first, their low interest rate and no fees ( they rebated $4800) is too good to be true. The selling agent and the buying agent for the house strongly advised me to use someone locally and someone we can see face to face. I tried but they are usually 0.25% higher and have to pay $5000 or more in fees. In the end, the loan was closed just one day late. Thanks for Scott Haire and Krista Hogan for all their great service.

After starting my process with another company, things fell apart. I reached out to Roundpoint and the experience was night and day different. They responded quickly and even helped get an item off my credit report. The service was top notch.

I have a line of credit with Roundpoint which is like a home equity loan. Roundpoint takes out the interest payment portion from my checking on the 25th of each month. I send in a principal payment to Roundpoint to arrive after the 25th so they will properly apply the whole payment (which I designate with their mail coupon to Principal) to principal but they took the next months interest out of that principal payment. This happened 2 or 3 times about 3 years ago with Roundpoint. Roundpoint recently got an online website so you can easily see your transaction history and make sure they are applying your payments properly. I have to really work hard I feel to make sure they apply the principal payments properly. Something seems shady with this company. The first person you speak with in customer service never seems fully knowledgeable to help. I wonder how many other consumers have had their principal payment not applied in full like mine. If you do not notice it, your principal balance will not be reduced like it should. This would cause you to take longer to pay off your loan.

I've had 2 appointments with reps from RoundPoint Mortgage scheduled, but when the agreed upon time came, no one from RoundPoint called. So based on that, I'd give Cutomer service a poor rating.
