They make it easy for clients to access account information and make payments. They don't have a wide variety of loan products but make up for it with excellent customer service.

Pros: Highly Rated Customer Service, Easy Loan Payment System
Cons: Limited Products Available, High Fees

I have done business with Sun Trust Bank for over 10 years and was always satisfied with their services. On February of 2012 I called the bank to refinance my mortgage under the HARP program. I spoke with Perry Shelton who seemed to come off very arrogant in talking bad about their competitors. I found out that because I had PMI on my current mortgage, at that time, only Sun Trust could process my refinance. To make a long story short, the refinancing process was drawn out into the seventh month. I missed two closing because the documents were wrong, my constant form of communication was the email alert that I would receive when someone makes changes to the loan documents. I would like to say thank you to Christina Chandler for taking the time to try and help in this process. The Processing department needs a total overhaul from management to staff. They had poor knowledge of the mortgage process and they would promise closing date while the documents were still wrong. The longer they took to close the more I had to refinance on the new loan and more on daily interest charges. I think the numbers on the Truth in Lending Disclosure Statement changed 5 times or more. I will not recommend Sun Trust Bank to anyone.

On the recommendation of my real estate agent I used SunTrust to close on a new house. In short, I will never use SunTrust for anything ever again in my life. There were mistakes on all the preliminary paperwork. They never returned my phone calls or e-mails. I can appreciate all the paperwork they require to close on a mortgage, but they asked for the SAME paperwork three different times (did they lose it?). They missed the closing date TWICE and we had to reschedule. It was very all very stressful.

I liked the loan officer, who was knowledgeable and professional, but the process took so long that I had to pay a small fee to extend the lock on my loan rate. I still improved my financial position by refinancing with SunTrust, but obviously would have preferred to not be hit with the extra fee.
