Tax Masters was created by Patrick Cox in 2001 and has since grown to over 400 employees at the time of this review. The Attorneys general in both Texas and Minnesota have filed lawsuits against Tax Masters and Patrick Cox, for deceptive business practices, allegedly misleading customers about its ability to reduce their tax bills.

Tax Masters filed for bankruptcy. Whether it will continue to exist remains to be seen. Tax Masters has a fairly long history in the tax relief industry. Clients should exercise extreme caution before engaging Tax Masters. The "F" rating at the BBB, thousands of consumer complaints and lawsuits filed by more than one state alleging deceptive business practices raise significant concerns. Potential clients need to be wary of receiving false promises.

They lost our information the first time but did excellent the second. Really appreciate the settlement. It took 3 years, which was due to lack of communication on the first go round. I found it very difficlt to reach the people that were working on our account. Sometimes it was 2-3 days, other times 3-4 months. The end result is all that matters though.

The only problem I experienced was getting calls back when I had a question. But other than that things went far better than I expected.

I paid these people 2,ooo to stop IRS collections. They did nothing! I requested a refund and was told I had one due but it would take 60 days as was written in the agreement I signed with them. It is now well over 100 days and all I get from them is emails saying a supervisor has to look it over first. Is this guy on Mars? I'm getting a bad feeling that I have been cheated and will never see any refund at all. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AND TELL EVERYBODY YOU KNOW ABOUT THEM!

I am also a victim of TaxMasters, after talking to them and feeling that they could help me to work out my IRS problem, when they quoted the price I told them that I could not do it. they told me they would cancel my request, they never sent me anything to sign and took $500.00 out of my bank account, and told me they would investigate it. it would take 10 business day's in the mean time they tryed to steal another deposit. any time you call them they give you the run around. I don't know how they sleep at night knowing what they do to people asking them for financial help. shame on all who take part in the hardship they put on others who trust them.

I would like to know what percentage of their customers get the results that they market all over the TV. They didn't help me and were so bad it was a joke, at least I got a portion of my fees back when i said that I was going to file a BBB complaint. Tax Masters is just terrible.

They really ripped me off, and now I see that Tax Masters have been sued by AG officers in Minnesotta and many other states. They should be shut down. There are much better tax relief companies out there than this taxmasters operation.

TaxMasters is a rip-off. They overcharged me and didn't get me what they promised.

I paid like thousands of dollars after I saw one of their ads and their salesperson guaranteed me that I would qualify for a IRS settlement. Then, no one followed up and I was left fending for myself and realized that I had been duped since I would never qualify for a settlement and am now trying to pay off the IRS on my own. Tax Masters is a rip off. Plus, now that i read all of the homework online that I should have seen up front I know that they have an F rating with the Better Business Bureaus

I paid these thieves $2385 over a year ago, canceled my contract by their terms, they sent me a letter stating it was in the finance dept. and that I was due it, I have that letter, but after umpteen unanswered calls over the past few months and an angry email sent nine to their Quality Control yesterday, I get this email today notifying me I have to address my refund through their bankruptcy dept. I'm flat broke living in dustbowl Lamar, Co. and was hoping to get this refund asap so I can go back to work in the oil/gas abstracting business so I can pay on my bills accumulated since 12/15/11 when I was laid off by NDS, and 3 to 4 mos behind rent! But now that is impossible! Boy! How I'd love to go pull off a John Rambo "First Blood" on this companies HQ!

I paid Tax Masters $4,000.00 and after 6 mos they had not even contacted the IRS on my behalf. I was forced to work out a plan with the IRS myself to avoid my wife loosing her job on account no action taken by taxmasters. I am Pat Cox's number one enemy. It's time for a class action suit in civil court. Mr. Cox would do better to ascertain the mental condition of those whom he steals from. Action forthcoming what is clearly a scam at Tax Masters.
