Find Attorney in California

Who can reverse a court order?

I need to find someone to reverse a court order. I get an allotment each month from my retired ex-spouse but I sign it right back over — I don't even cash the check. The problem is I'm winding up paying taxes on the monies I don't even receive and I need to stop the allotment but I need a court order to do it. I live in California.

You need to find an attorney who can review your situation in detail. My guess is that you have a wage garnishment of some kind, and an alimony or family support order. However, guessing is not what you need to answer your question. You need to talk with an attorney who can interview you in person, suss-out the relevant facts in your situation, and review your documentation.

I hope this information helps you Find. Learn & Save.

Struggling with debt?

Debt is used to buy a home, pay for bills, buy a car, or pay for a college education. According to the NY Federal Reserve total household debt as of Q4 2023 was $17.503 trillion. Auto loan debt was $1.607 trillion and credit card was $1.129 trillion.

According to data gathered by Urban.org from a sample of credit reports, about 26% of people in the US have some kind of debt in collections. The median debt in collections is $1,739. Student loans and auto loans are common types of debt. Of people holding student debt, approximately 10% had student loans in collections. The national Auto/Retail debt delinquency rate was 4%.

Each state has its rate of delinquency and share of debts in collections. For example, in Virginia credit card delinquency rate was 3%, and the median credit card debt was $423.

Avoiding collections isn’t always possible. A sudden loss of employment, death in the family, or sickness can lead to financial hardship. Fortunately, there are many ways to deal with debt including an aggressive payment plan, debt consolidation loan, or a negotiated settlement.
