Rocket Personal Loans top features
Quick funding. Rocket Loans' standout feature is speed. If you complete the loan process and sign your Promissory Note by 4:00 PM ET on a business day, funds could arrive the same day via ACH. That's faster than most online lenders, which typically take one to a few days.
Soft-pull prequalification. You can check your rate and see available loan offers without a hard inquiry, so there's no credit score impact until you choose to proceed.
Competitive rates. Well-qualified applicants could get a relatively low interest rate. And the APR tops out at 29.99%, which is lower than lenders like Upgrade (up to approximately 35.99%) and below the 36% threshold consumer advocates typically flag.
Autopay discount. Rocket Loans offers a 0.25% rate reduction when you enroll in autopay at closing. The discount must be selected at when you get the loan—you can't add it later.
No prepayment fee. Rocket's published fee schedule lists only the origination fee, late fee, and ACH return fee, with no prepayment fee. You may pay off your loan early without an additional charge.
Flexible loan uses. Rocket Loans funds debt consolidation, credit card consolidation, home improvement, medical bills, moving costs, and more. It does not fund student loan refinancing, gambling, or illegal activities.
State availability. Rocket Loans is available in 46 states and Washington, D.C. It's not available in Iowa, Maryland, Nevada, West Virginia, or U.S. territories.
Where Rocket Personal Loans can improve
Origination fee. It starts around 3.23% and goes up to 9.99%, which puts it at the high end among online lenders. Because the fee is deducted from the loan amount before you receive funds, the actual disbursement is lower than you requested.
On the representative example from Rocket's own disclosures using a $16,000 loan with a 6.95% origination fee, the borrower would receive roughly $14,888 while repaying the full $16,000. Plan accordingly: If you need $10,000 in hand, you may need to request more to cover the fee.
Limited term options. You choose 36 or 60 months—and nothing else. Lenders like SoFi offer a range of term options from 24 to 84 months, giving borrowers far more control over their monthly payment.
No co-signer. If your credit profile is borderline, you can't strengthen an application by adding a co-signer. That's a real limitation for borrowers who are close but not quite there.
Loan ceiling for new borrowers. If you need more than $45,000 and don't already have a Rocket or Mr. Cooper mortgage, you won't be eligible for the higher tier. The practical maximum for most new borrowers is $45,000.
Qualifying for a Rocket Personal Loans personal loan
Rocket Loans doesn't publish a minimum credit score. What it does say is that excellent credit is required for the lowest advertised APR, and that all applications are subject to credit review. Eligibility depends on your credit score, requested amount, requested term, credit usage, credit history, and other factors.
To be eligible you must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and at least 18 years old.
State-specific loan minimums also apply:
- Ohio: all loans must be greater than $5,001
- Massachusetts: minimum loan of $7,000
- Georgia: minimum loan of $3,001
Rocket Loans is not available in Iowa, Maryland, Nevada, West Virginia, or U.S. territories.
How to apply for a Rocket Personal Loans loan
Rocket Loans is an online-only lender. The full process, from rate check to funding, can happen in a single business day for eligible borrowers. Here's how it works:
- Check your rate. Go to rocketloans.com and complete the short prequalification form. This creates a soft credit inquiry and won't affect your score. You'll see personalized loan offers based on your credit profile.
- Choose your offer. Select the loan amount, term (36 or 60 months), and rate that fits your needs. If you want the autopay discount, enroll at this step—you can't add it after the loan closes.
- Verify your information. Submit supporting documentation as requested. Rocket Loans performs a hard credit inquiry at this stage to complete underwriting.
- Sign and receive funds. Sign the Promissory Note. If you complete this by 4:00 PM ET on a business day, funds can be deposited as soon as that same day. Your bank's processing rules may affect when the deposit is available.
Phone support is available at (800) 333-7625, Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM ET, and Saturday 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM ET. You can also reach the team by email at Support@RocketLoans.com.
Loan approval and funding from Rocket Personal Loans
Not all applicants receive an offer. After reviewing your credit and income, Rocket Loans presents available loan options. Your actual rate, amount, and origination fee depend on your credit profile. The lowest advertised rate is reserved for borrowers with excellent credit who also enroll in autopay.
Funding arrives via ACH into the bank account you provide when you apply. Then, you repay your loan according to the terms of your agreement through regular monthly payments. If you select autopay for the discount, the payment will come out of your linked bank account automatically each month.
Customer service and customer satisfaction
| Platform | Score | Reviews | As of |
|---|---|---|---|
| BBB (grade) | A+ | — | June 2026 |
| BBB (customer reviews) | 1/5 | 5 reviews | June 2026 |
| Trustpilot | 4.9/5 | 9,000+ | June 2026 |
The BBB customer score of 1/5 reflects only five reviews, which is likely not enough to draw conclusions. Trustpilot's 4.9/5 from a much larger pool of reviewers is a far stronger signal of actual customer experience.
Rocket provides customer service both online and by phone:
- Phone support: (800) 333-7625, Monday through Friday 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM ET, Saturday 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM ET.
- For new loan questions, email Support@RocketLoans.com.
- For existing clients, email Servicing@RocketLoans.com.
- Online account access and servicing are available at rocketloans.com.
Is Rocket Loans a legitimate lender?
Rocket Loans is a legitimate, accredited lender. It's operated by RockLoans Marketplace LLC, a subsidiary of Rocket Companies, Inc. (NYSE: RKT), the same parent behind Rocket Mortgage and Rocket Money. All loans are originated by Cross River Bank, a New Jersey state-chartered commercial bank (Member FDIC).
A search of CFPB and FTC records found no regulatory actions against RockLoans Marketplace LLC (the personal loan entity).
When Rocket Personal Loans might be the best choice
Rocket Loans could be a strong fit if:
- You need funds fast. Same-day ACH funding is the lender's calling card. If timing matters, it's hard to beat.
- You have good to excellent credit. The APR floor is competitive, but it requires excellent credit and autopay enrollment. The better your profile, the more of Rocket's rate ceiling you avoid.
- You're consolidating debt and the math still works after accounting for the origination fee. Run the numbers: if the rate you're offered is meaningfully lower than the rates on your current balances, the fee may be worth it.
Consider other lenders if:
- You want to avoid origination fees. LightStream and SoFi charge no origination fees for eligible borrowers and offer strong rates for excellent credit.
- You need a term other than 36 or 60 months. SoFi (24 to 84 months) or LightStream (24 to 240 months) offer more flexibility.
- You need more than $45,000 and don't have an existing Rocket or Mr. Cooper mortgage.
No matter what, you should compare multiple personal loans before you choose.

Pre-qualification won’t impact your credit
Is Rocket Loans good for personal loans?
Rocket Loans could be a strong option if you need funds quickly and have good to excellent credit. It offers same-day ACH funding, a soft-pull prequalification, and an APR ceiling of 29.99%—better than many online lenders.
The tradeoff is an origination fee of up to 9.99%, which is deducted before disbursement. Borrowers who may be eligible for a no-fee lender like LightStream or SoFi should compare total loan cost—including fees—before deciding.
What credit score do you need for a Rocket loan?
Rocket Loans doesn't publish a minimum credit score on its website. It states that excellent credit is required for the lowest advertised APR. Third-party sources report a minimum in the range of approximately 640, though that figure isn't confirmed on Rocket's own disclosures. The best way to check is to use the soft-pull prequalification at rocketloans.com—it won't affect your credit score.
What is the easiest personal loan to get?
That depends on your credit profile. Lenders with lower credit thresholds—such as Avant (reported minimum around 580) or Upstart (which factors in education and employment alongside credit)—may be more accessible for borrowers with limited or imperfect credit. For borrowers in Rocket Loans' credit range, its prequalification process is straightforward: a short form, no hard inquiry, and results in minutes.
