How do I learn my current credit score? I know federal law requires that I have access to 1 free credit report from each of the 3 credit reporting companies but those reports dont give me my credit score as of the date the report is generated. Is there anyway to get a score without paying for it?

I just paid off my last two collection accounts. I was signed up for a credit monitoring/fraud protection service, and just got in the mail my most recent credit information. It showed that my credit score literally TANKED (except TransUnion)! I went from Equifax 594 to 555, TransUnion 569 to 600, Experian 621 to 515. What do I do?

I just checked my credit score and it is 804 so it is pretty good, but I have several credit cards that I have had for several years with zero balance on them. I would like to cancel them because I never use them. Will that hurt my credit score if I cancel them. I am planning on getting a new car soon so I do not want to hurt my credit score.

A credit card company made an error in crediting a payment, and as a consequence we had a negative remark that lowered our credit score 8 points. I had them fix it and score has not gone back up. Why? This hit our credit the day before we were planning to get pre-approved for house, the 8 points it lowered us put us below the score we need to get approved for a house. How long will it take t...
