My husband told me that we have a lot more debt than I knew about. He has a bunch of credit cards in his name and had been keeping that hidden from me. I am upset and freaked out.
Trust is part of the issue, though when we went through the credit card statements there were no unexplained expenses. Yes, my first thought was that he spent the money on something illicit or why else wouldn'...

I have accumulated a lot of credit card debt in the past few years. I need to do something, to change course to solve this problem. I haven’t decided what to do. An important part of my decision is how does debt relief affect my credit?

I am a caregiver for my 81 yr old widowed mother, living with her in the very modest home she owns. Her credit card debt is so high we cannot make the payments on a few accounts and still have money to eat and for her meds. I am already on payment plans with reduced interest, but still can't make it. Is it a good idea to NOT pay those few accounts that will outlive her, and concentrate on the o...

I was told by the FTC that after a company has written off a bad debt on their taxes, they are no longer able to collect the debt themselves that the only option is to sell the debt. The FTC also informed me that they can no longer charge interest or penalties on this debt. I am having difficulties finding this information in print and was wondering if you could help. I checked my credit reports recently, and an inquiry from "Northstar Location Services" appeared on two of them. This inquiry was not there when I checked my reports a year ago. I'm wondering why this would appear and who or what Northstar Location Services is. If it's a debt collector, what should I do?

I hit a rough patch financially and am not sure what to do. I can only make all my minimum payments by eating into my dwindling savings. A bunch of my credit cards were issued by WFNNB, but now are handled by Comenity Bank? What options do I have if I can't make my payments as agreed?

Tell me how to see the listings of public record information that is supposedly on my credit report all of a sudden. For the first time, there is a listing of a credit card (does not show name of card) that I am in debt to for $1,993, of which are places i have never heard of.

I owe an out-of-state casino $3,750. I had a marker of $5,000, then one evening 6 months ago when I was down $5k, they allowed me to go $2,500 above that. I didn't have enough in my checking account to pay off the $7,500 I lost that evening as they automatically debit my checking account. I originally owed $4,500 as they were able to debit $3,000, which was all the mone...
