I read that the FHA is running a deficit and may need a bailout. Also, the HECM (reverse mortgage) program is a huge drain. Will this affect their reverse mortgage program? Will there be new reverse mortgage rules?

Will the new Obama plan for helping homeowners (of 3/2012)help us? We are not underwater & have tons of equity. Our son would like to take over our home eventually so we don't want a reverse. Need to lower our payment to $1000 or so. Our loan is NOT with...

Regarding a reverse mortgage. What happens when one of the spouses goes into a long term care facility -- say, for custodial care the rest of his/her life? If the family income is insufficient to support both the person at home and the one in the nursing home -- How would the reverse mortgage be handled by Medicaid?

Can I qualify for a reverse mortgage by establishing a primary residence for myself in a state different from the one where my husband works? We have a home in WI and we now live in Or; my husband wants to keep working in Or; I want to retire and spend most of the year in WI. I assume we would need to file separately with IRS? Thank you for your suggestions, Stephanie

My husband and I are 62, no children, want to stay in current home, needs improvements done but do not want a large payment each month. I understand you can pay the interest each month on some reverse mortgage loans. Yet I am not totally sold on it. I don't know anyone who has gotten one to find out if they a...

My mother died having a reverse mortgage. The house is worth much less than the amount owed. She left no assets other than her Florida home. I have communicated several times with the mortgage company by phone and in writing, stating that I did not want the home. They informed me that they would foreclose on the home. I just received a letter from the mortgage company's attorneys stating...

My mother died last year unexpectedly. She had a reverse mortgage through Wells Fargo. I got into a nasty battle with them because they have refused to acknowledge me as the heir to her property although she had a standing will in place, and was one of many documents given to them before & after her death. A lawsuit has surfaced over her death, and has drained me financially. I need to k...
